Secret Invasion #5 - What have we learned?

Spolierful review! If you don't want to know the details, check out my relatively spoiler-free review over at www.comicbooks.today.com.
Man, this title is great. Bendis has done a masterful job of using characters that I normally would not care about and, well, making me care. Who cares about Abigail Brand? Now I do. Ditto for Nick Fury and Maria Hill. Even perennial un-favorite Mr. Fantastic is kicking some serious Skrull butt. The heroes are mad. This is deeper, more personal, than their usual bop-the-bad-guy stuff.
Maria Hill escaped the Skrull-Jarvis and his crew. Agent Brand whooped a whole ship load (that's SHIP load) of Skrulls and freed Reed Richards. Reed knows how to reveal disguised Skrulls. After four and a half issues on the receiving end of a plantary scale thumping, the heroes are ready to fight back (except for Iron Man, who is still sick as a dog).
Clint Barton, the former Hawkeye and the current man under the Ronin mask, has long been my personal favorite among the pantheon of Marvel heroes. His pain at the revelation of Mockingbird as a Skrull was palpable. His long dead wife, returned to him, only to be revealed as a traitor bent on his death. To ratchet the emotions up even further, Skrullingbird didn't know she was a Skrull, so she begged him for help as he executed her.
Killing a Skrull doesn't seem to be considered killing right now in the Marvel U. While we haven't seen Spider-Man cross that line yet, just about everyone seems good and ready to get a little Skrull blood on their hands. Things are going to get ugly and I can't wait to see more. If you're not reading Secret Invasion, get in on it now. This is hands down the best story-telling on the market right now.
