Secret Invasion: Who’s a Skrull?
June 11th 2008 18:38
We know for sure:
Edwin Jarvis (since at least the first story arc of New Avengers)
Spider-Woman (since at least the first story arc of New Avengers)
Dum-Dum Dugan
Captain Marvel
Hank Pym
Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine - I don’t know much about this character, but she WAS a Skrull, ‘till Fury put a bullet through her head.
Elektra (until she was killed by Echo)
Black Bolt (killed by Illuminati)
Space-ship Spider-Man (killed by T-Rex)
Space-ship Hawkeye (killed by T-Rex)
Strongly suspected:
Tony Stark - It hasn’t been confirmed yet, exactly. But I don’t see what Skrull Queen’s motivation for messing with him in SI #3 would be. It would explain a lot. And in a way, it is unexpected because it was so obvious that it had to be a red herring.
Space-ship Captain America - He hasn’t been revealed yet, but the real Cap is dead. See below.
Space-ship Thor - No way that Marvel is going to undo the JMS Thor going on in his own series for a throw-back character. No way. Same argument goes for Luke Cage. I don’t imagine Marvel going back to the silk shirt version now. Jean Grey is off in the White Hot Room. Pretty much all of the Space-ship heroes fall under the “Strongly Suspected” category, with the notable exceptions listed on this site. It would be a great hook if a couple of real heroes were mixed in there somehow.
Cleared:
Spider-Man - Since the Spider-Man in the space ship was a Skrull, we can assume the Spidey out of the ship was not.
Clint Barton, Ronin (Formerly Hawkeye) - Again, if the Hawkeye on the ship was a Skrull, the Hawkeye on Earth was not.
Captain America - We’ve seen the body & it did not revert to Skrull form. The dead Cap cannot be a Skrull.
Echo - We’ve seen a Skrull try to replace her in New Avengers and another Skrull attack her in Secret Invasion. She’s not a Skrull. Did Skrull Queen kill her? That wasn’t clear to me. She’ll probably be back.
Sentry - It is explicitly stated in Mighty Avengers that the Skrull cannot copy him. He’s not a Skrull. He is nuts.
Vision - The Super-Skrulls in New York destroy him.
Got me wondering:
Space-ship Mockingbird - Could she be the real deal? Could there be real heroes mixed in with the Skrull invaders? She seems legit, but we’ve seen Mockingbird’s dead body in Avengers: West Coast & we’ve seen her raised as an undead zombie in Avengers & we even caught a glimpse of her in Hell over in Thunderbolts (sorry, I don’t have any of the issue references, but trust me, I remember). I’m thinking she’s a Skrull, or else we have to ignore a lot of past continuity. This book is so well written & so tight, I’m guessing Skrull.
If I've missed anyone or if you think I'm off the mark, let me know.
